Your questions answered

Competent Adviser Status is when a financial adviser, that has already achieved their qualifications, is deemed competent and able to provide advice to clients without supervision.

To achieve Competent Adviser Status as an Independent Financial Adviser, you have to pass the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, complete supervised practical experience, and demonstrate your ability to provide competent financial advice through case reviews and compliance checks.

Yes. ValidPath can support advisers to obtain CAS status if they are joining an established firm or support existing firms to train their staff to achieve CAS. Unless there are valid circumstances, it is a requirement to have CAS status if you are seeking to start your own firm.

ValidPath helps you achieve Competent Adviser Status through a structured programme of tailored development, compliance check-ins, case reviews, and personalised training. The CAS programme provides advisers with the skills, experience and confidence to work independently.
